Effective immediately a new Maximum Sleeper Occupancy policy has been put into effect by Amtrak. The newly implemented policy states that all sleeper bookings will be limited to one person per bed, unless approval is obtained by an Amtrak empowered agent.
Going forward, if a travel agent attempts to book more than one person per bed they will receive an error message stating the maximum sleeper occupancy has been exceed and they will be instructed to contact Amtrak. Empowered Amtrak reservation agents can override the error message provided certain criteria are met and can allow more than one (1) child per bed.
- Roomettes and bedrooms – two (2) children to a bed provided each child weights no more than 40lbs each
- Family Room – two (2) children in adult beds and the lower child berth, but only one (1) child in the upper child berth (40lb rule applies)
- Bedroom – one (1) child and one (1) adult in the lower berth
- More than one (1) adult per bed will never be approved
AAA/CAA member receive a 10% on the lowest available fare at the time of booking. To be eligible for the discount AAA/CAA members must book three days in advance of the travel day (3-Day ARR).
