Hawaii — Something for Everyone

Hawaii offers vacationers opportunities to immerse themselves in history, adventure, the environment, culture, or just plain fun. Whatever you choose to do there, you’ll want to return again and again to experience more.

On Oahu, take a journey through history with a tour to Pearl Harbor. Visit the Arizona Memorial, where World War II is said to have begun for the United States, and step aboard the USS Missouri, where the peace declaration was signed at the end of the war. Families may enjoy a visit to Hawaiian Waters water park, a day trip for snorkeling and a picnic at Hanauma Bay, a visit to the Honolulu Zoo or Sea Life Park, or immersing themselves in the culture and activities at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Nothing beats the experience of horseback riding in paradise, or stopping to play in the waterfalls and pools found on the Road To Hana. During the winter months, watch from ashore as Humpback whales play in the warm waters of Hawaii’s Pacific Ocean.

Kauai’s eco-adventures combine hiking in lush valleys, kayaking along jungle streams, zip-lining through tropical rainforests, exploring Waimea Canyon (dubbed the Grand Canyon of the Pacific), sailing along the dramatic cliffs of the Napali Coast, or a Wailua river cruise to the famous Waimea Canyon and Fern Grotto.

No venture to the Big Island is complete without a tour of live volcanic flow (from a safe distance, of course), or a journey to the underwater kingdom of the Pacific aboard the Atlantis Submarine. Another fun way to enjoy the day is alongside Hawaii’s paniolos (cowboys) in the island’s upcountry region, for a great BBQ meal, games, dancing, and country music. Round-out your Hawaii vacation with an evening at an authentic luau. Luaus are held at various venues on every island, and provide the perfect blend of culture, great food, and awe-inspiring entertainment the entire family will love.

Have the kids in tow? Most hotels and resorts have their own on-site kids’ program, which is ideal for families with younger children. Little ones can spend the day with others their own age, doing activities they love, in a safe environment, while parents and older family members explore the beauty and culture of paradise, or simply enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.

Ask your AAA Travel professional about pre-booking optional activities and excursions before your vacation. Pleasant Holidays has more than a thousand options that can help you create fabulous memories that last far beyond the end of your vacation.
