Disney offers a variety of dining options and packages to make your stay at a Disney resort even more enjoyable.
1. Before leaving home, try to make a tentative plan, including what parks to visit on what day. Remember, you can't possible see and do it all in one vacation. Have everyone choose one attraction that they must see, and put those at the top of the list.
2. Don't stress the small stuff. Go slow, take time, experience.
3. Get an early start and take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours (available to guests staying at a Disney property). By starting early you can rest at the hotel during the hottest (and most crowded) parts of the day and go back to the parks in the evening when it’s cooler. The evening hours really clear out towards the end of the night and you may not even have to get off the ride to experience it again!
With only a fleeting glimpse of Cameran’s blonde hair as my guide, I chased my enthusiastic runaway through a maze of mannequins and Mickey Mouse snow globes. “Pixie dust, Mommy! Pixie dust!” she squealed as she ran.

Space Mountain is closed for a make-over and will reopen later in 2009.
A Goofy Celebration: In 2009 you can book an exclusive birthday celebration at Goofy's Candy Co at the Downtown Disney Marketplace. Both parties include a private party room, two party hosts, invitations and thank you notes, decorations and delicious treats.
Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival: March 18 - May 31, 2009. At the 16th annual festival, guests of all ages can take part in exhibits and activites about gradening and outdoor fun. Highlights include learning how to create an environmentally friendly garden, Tinker Bell topiaries in Pixie Hollow - a garden just for kids, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Croc topiaries in the Pirates Adventure Zone, Minnie's Magnificent Butterfly Garden, Disney Gardening at Home presentations, and more. Admission to Epcot is required.
1. YOUR CHILDREN WILL LOVE IT At 13 months old, our daughter’s Disney cruise was her first Disney experience. In one seven-day span, she had many big “first” experiences: She met Mickey Mouse. She played on a beach. She visited St. Thomas and toured St. Maarten’s hilly streets. She befriended crew members Noel and Nicoleta, who played with her every time they saw her for the entire week. Sure, she doesn’t remember a thing from it — but we do.

The powerful muscles, long broad neck and thick mane of the Andalusian masks the beautiful and gentle spirit of this magnificent horse. They are among the world’s finest, and our visit to the Yeguada de la Cartuja, a world-class breeding farm on the outskirts of Jerez, was a special treat on the eighth day of our nine day tour of Spain. The sight of brilliant white mares with their gangly young foals graced the exotic countryside of Andalusia. My daughter and I stood quietly under the strong Spanish sun, sharing a wonderful and rare moment together.
For over 50 years, Disney parks have been the setting for celebration vacations large and small. From birthdays to reunions, celebrating at Disney is a tradition that families have come to treasure above all others. This year, there is even more reason to celebrate at Disney with a first-ever opportunity to receive a free ticket to one of the Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks on your birthday in 2009.

Every day, Walt Disney World guests flock to the spinning teacups, the Haunted Mansion and the fast rides affectionately referred to as the “Mountains”—Splash, Big Thunder and Space. Sometimes though, it only takes a few turns on “It’s A Small World” before you begin to look for an escape from the Magic Kingdom’s overwhelming cuteness. Check out these “hidden treasures” during your next Disney vacation.
The following upgrades were recently completed on the Disney Magic:
- Quiet Cove was outfitted with soothing, cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs. Teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions now line the pool, creating an inviting, stylish ambiance in line with the Vista Spa and Salon experience.
- Cove Cafe has incorporated a new seating area with plush, comfortable chairs providing the perfect venue to relax while sipping a cup of gourmet coffee.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- High-flying elephants and spinning teacups usually take center stage when a guest is thinking of Walt Disney World Resort. But did you know that nine-pound lemons flourish at The Land pavilion at Epcot, or that sunset safaris explore Africa-inspired savannahs in the middle of Florida? Guests who take a second glance find undiscovered gems within the 40-square-mile Vacation Kingdom.
I’ve been to Walt Disney World in every month of the year, but autumn is by far my favorite season to visit the “House of Mouse.” There are lots of reasons to plan your next Disney trip for this fall, too!
Although we gladly escaped the wintry weather of upstate New York last December, my husband and I couldn’t escape the irony when we found ourselves playing with our daughter in the faux snow drifting down from the skies above the Magic Kingdom on a 70-degree evening.
Our daughter snored loudly in her car seat, her new Mickey hat tilting as her head tipped forward and rolled to the side with every turn. I unbuckled my seat belt and clumsily scrambled into the back, while my husband maneuvered our rented PT Cruiser out of the Epcot parking lot. He was looking for the others in our caravan as I was hastily searching for my camera. I snapped my sleeping beauty’s picture—for the scrapbook—I explained with a sly wink to my husband, who rolled his eyes but wisely refrained from comment. I had already taken a hundred pictures that week “for the scrapbook,” but this was still another priceless moment that could not be forgotten. My husband was beginning to realize that 10 days at Walt Disney World with our extended family of 14 meant only one thing: I was going to need a bigger scrapbook.

The thought of riding a Segway—a two-wheeled transportation device that relies on the operator’s sense of balance—was more than a little intimidating. As a perpetual klutz who desperately clings to handrails, I tend to trip over pesky obstacles like carpet, parking lots, and on occasion, my two small children.

Any vacation to a land of parades, flying elephants, and fairy tale princesses is sure to be a magical experience, but Walt Disney World is even more enjoyable when you know you got a great deal. Follow these steps for Disney savings, and your dreams of a magical vacation can come true…even without a fairy godmother.
DO BOOK EARLY The cheaper rooms book up the fastest. Booking a lower-level room early and off-season (meaning not booking a cruise that sails during peak tourist season) gives you the best chance of getting a free upgrade.
